Postdoctoral Research Associate- Membrane Protein Structure Function

Organization: Case Western Reserve University

Location: Cleveland, USA

Field: Biological Sciences

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry, or related field is required. Highly motivated candidates with strong background in membrane protein biochemistry and/or the application of spectroscopic techniques to address biological problems are encouraged to apply. Background knowledge in ion channels is highly desirable. Interested candidates should send their CV and the contact information of 3 references to sudha.chakrapani@case.edu

Abstract:

A postdoctoral position is available to study the role of structure and dynamics in the functioning of ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels.

Description:

A postdoctoral position is available to study the role of structure and dynamics in the functioning of ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels. Our studies involve a multidisciplinary approach which combines reporter-group spectroscopic techniques (site-directed spin labeling/EPR), electrophysiological methods (single-channel/macroscopic current measurements and model-based kinetic analysis), crystallography/X-ray diffraction along with classical biochemical procedures to express and purify membrane proteins.
