Requirements:
The successful applicant must document knowledge at Master's level, and the project description must be within one of the literary disciplines of the department: Comparative Literature, English, Finnish, French, Nordic, Russian, Saami, Spanish or German - alternatively within Art History or Documentation Science.
Further, the successful applicant must fulfil the requirements for admission to the faculty's PhD programme, cf. §6 of Regulations for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) at The University of Tromsø, English translation and the faculty's supplementary regulations.
Applicants must have a good command of Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.
The normal period of appointment is four years. The PhD study is standardized to three years. The fourth year consists of teaching or other duties for the university, organized according to a distribution formula of 25 % per year, cf. Directive for duties for research fellows (in Norwegian only)
A shorter period of appointment may be given if the research fellow has already completed parts of his/her researcher's education, or when previous appointments to educational positions (research fellow, research assistant or equivalent) are counted as part of the duration of the research fellowship, so as the combined duration of the researcher's education is three years.
