The University of Konstanz is one of the nine „Exzellenz-Universitäten“ in Germany. The Center of Excellence „Cultural Foundations of Integration“ offers an organizational framework for research in „Kulturwissenschaften“ at the University of Konstanz. As part of Germany´s state and federal „excellence initiative“, it will be sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (the main German foundation for academic research). The Center represents an effort to draft a pathbreaking model of research in the humanities and social sciences.

Description:

Each year the Institute for Advanced Study Konstanz welcomes 20 scholars from various disciplines who are working on the theme of integration. The applications should have a direct relation to one of the Centers four research fields (cultures of identity, narrative theory as cultural theory, trans-cultural hierarchies, and the cultural dynamics of religion) or else be tied to the core theme for 2011/2012, „Non-Knowlegde“ (Nichtwissen). Applicants should have received their doctoral degrees, and residency will be required.
