Abstract:

Characterization of heterogeneous catalytic systems by surface sensitive experimental techniques

Description:

The candidate should have a background in surface chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. Basic knowledge on surface science, UHV technology, fuel cell technology and catalytic reactivity is essential. Previous experience in any of the following fields would be a plus: Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS/UPS), Thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS), infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Synchrotron radiation techniques (XAS), molecular beam studies, synthesis of size selected metal/alloy nanoparticles, catalytic reactions and gas phase analysis (mass spectrometry/gas chromatography). Among others the successful candidate will be responsible for catalyst characterization in the UHV setup of Surface Analysis group (LMSPC) and participate to synchrotron-based experiments
