PhD-Postdoc position in biophysics
Organization: Heinrich-Heine-Universität
Location: Düsseldorf, Germany
Field: Biophysics
Requirements:
Highly skilled individual who is familiar with or interested in quantitative fluorescence microscopy and image analysis. Willingness to generate quantitative experimental data that can serve as input for mathematical modeling is a necessary condition and some background in analytical and numerical calculus is highly appreciated.
Abstract:
A PhD/Postdoc position in biophysics is available at the Biology Department of the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf within the newly established Centre for Quantitative Biology.
Description:
Applicants with background in biophysics, microbiology or molecular biology and with interest to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment are strongly encouraged to apply.
A focus of the biophysics section is to use a combined theoretical and experimental approach to gain fundamental understanding of the underlying processes driving the dynamics of signaling and gene regulation in model organisms such as E. coli and S. cerevisiae. The central subject of this position is to use fluorescence microscopy methods such as fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) to investigate how information processing cellular networks coordinate the response of unicellular organisms to fluctuating environments.
