Postdoctoral Scientist Cell Proliferation
Organization: VIB
Location: Leuven, Belgium
Field: Biology
Requirements:
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and efficient researcher with the ambition to lead a small research group. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline and should be skilled in molecular and cellular biology methods. Interest and experience in biochemistry would be an advantage. Applicants should have a strong publication record (including at least one paper as a first author) in peer-reviewed international journals, with an emphasis on quality rather than quantity of publications. They should have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English and should be capable of working in a team as well as independently
Abstract:
A post-doctoral research position is available for 3 years to join the CELL PROLIFERATION LABORATORY, led by Professor Salvador Moncada.
Description:
The primary research aim of the CELL PROLIFERATION LABORATORY is to understand the molecular basis of the link between cell proliferation and metabolism. Our recent work has identified the mechanism that regulates metabolic aspects of cell cycle progression and therefore of cell proliferation. Our future aims are to investigate the wider significance of this finding, including the possible changes that might occur during carcinogenesis. The successful candidate will study the proliferative response of cells, the metabolic changes that underpin this response and the molecular basis of the coordination between cell proliferation and metabolism.
Offer
A dynamic working environment, a competitive remuneration package, a stimulating scientific surrounding in a young, motivated team (with English as main language). To meet the increasing demands of performing multidisciplinary research, VRC offers Core facilities including imaging, molecular biology, proteomics/metabolomics, histology, aquatic facility (zebrafish & tadpoles), mouse facility, etc.
Qualified senior candidates will have the possibility to mentor junior scientists and technicians, and work semi-independently. Dedicated training courses for post-docs will be made available on request. Intellectual participation with the principal investigator and active supervision will be provided.
Close interaction with other scientists at the VRC will support the development of an integrated understanding of related topics including angiogenesis and cancer.
