Applicants must have achieved a Norwegian doctorate in a relevant geosciences discipline, or the equivalent education abroad, or have presented the dissertation for assessment by the closing date for applications. It is a prerequisite that the dissertation has been approved before appointment is granted.
Abstract:
The postdoctoral position is a fixed-term post, the chief objective being to qualify the successful candidate for work in senior positions within their disciplines. The term of employment for this position is three years. It is not possible for any person to work under more than one temporary appointment as postdoctoral fellow for the same institution.
Description:
We wish to attract an active researcher with proven research experience in seismic interpretation of sedimentary and/or structural geology who will help lead a team of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers under the supervision of Professor Rob Gawthorpe. Expertise in one or more of: i) quantitative seismic geomorphology of depositional systems, ii) structural characterisation of fault/fold growth, iii) seismic imaging of fluid flow in sedimentary basins, iv) structural style of mobile substrates, and v) sedimentary processes along continental margins would complement existing projects. Furthermore, experience of working with, and supporting, large 3D seismic projects and/or working with the petroleum industry will be considered advantageous.
A key part of the application should be a two-page research project proposal, including a progress plan. It is a premise that the selected candidate will complete the project within the stipulated period of employment. The project proposal and progress plan shall (sic: form part of) be annexed to the employment contract, and shall include the name of the person who is to be the discipline advisor for the selected candidate.
The teaching language will normally be Norwegian.

Starting salary on grade 57 (code 1352/pay framework 24.1) in the Civil Service pay grade table; currently NOK 448 400 gross p.a.; following ordinary meriting regulations (wage range 57–64). In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants a higher salary may be considered.
