Requirements:

University qualification in translation and/or linguistics Thorough understanding of quality assurance in translation. The IB’s language services department is looking to recruit a Translation quality manager in its global centre in The Hague. The main purpose of the job is to ensure that quality assurance processes for translation and other language activities are followed across the organization and in all IB languages, so all IB’s stakeholders receive services of equivalent high quality in all languages.

Description:

The IB’s language services department is looking to recruit a Translation quality manager in its global centre in The Hague. The main purpose of the job is to ensure that quality assurance processes for translation and other language activities are followed across the organization and in all IB languages, so all IB’s stakeholders receive services of equivalent high quality in all languages. The IB has three working languages (English, French and Spanish), in which schools receive full support to implement the three programmes. Also, in order to widen access, the IB provides some support in other languages, in the form of translated curriculum publications or limited assessment services. Currently those languages are Arabic, Chinese, German, Turkish Indonesian and Japanese. The language services department provides language and translation services to the whole of the organization to ensure that support is given in the IB’s languages to all external stakeholders including schools, teachers, examiners, governments, universities etc. The department also manages the translation of all the IB’s web platforms, including the public web site. This post is one of three managers directly reporting to the senior manager of language services, the other two being translation operations manager and Language technologies manager. Those three manages work closely together to ensure the service given to all stakeholders is fit for purpose. The jobholder will directly line manage the four language leads, three based in Europe and one in the US to ensure quality standards are followed for all languages and projects, and will indirectly manage the work of all internal and external translators and revisers. The job holder sets the standards and approaches for language work, ensuring they are implemented in all languages.
