Abstract:

The Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) was established at Kyoto University in 2007, under the World Premier International Research Center (WPI) Initiative launched by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. The institute aims to create new integrated disciplines of cell-material sciences based on the cross-disciplinary fields of chemistry, physics, and cell biology, and to become a global hub of career development plans for the world’s brightest junior investigators.

Description:

We are looking for postdoctoral researchers who will be involved in developing various nano/mesoscale structures, with emphasis on application to cell biological studies. As part of the multidisciplinary efforts ongoing within iCeMS, there will be many collaborative opportunities available to use such materials for probing and manipulating a wide range of biological systems.
The researcher will be able to interact with world-class scientists from diverse fields, encouraged by the open office space and common laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art research instruments. As a member of a starting group, the researcher will participate in the various aspects of building up a new lab, which should become a valuable experience when moving on to the next stages of their career.
Starting date will be April 1st or later. Initial contract will be until March 31st, 2012, and can be renewed up to 5 years.
