Requirements:
Profile:
• You are a medical doctor with additional training in epidemiology as an asset, a PhD in a relevant field.
• You have experience in malaria research; clinical trial experience is an advantage.
• You have relevant experience in developing countries, i.e. Sub-Saharan Africa, South East Asia and/or Latin America.
• You have published in peer-reviewed journals and given presentations in international conferences.
• You have experience with working in interdisciplinary teams.
• You have experience with interactive teaching
• You have sufficient knowledge of English and French to carry out field work. Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage. You speak Dutch or are prepared to learn the language.
• You are willing to travel overseas
Abstract:
The Unit Epidemiology and Control of Parasitic Diseases works on malaria along 4 main research lines: 1) Antimalarial drug resistance and the efficacy of new drugs or drug combinations, 2) Malaria in pregnancy, 3) Malaria epidemiology and the evaluation of new interventions (including new approaches for pre-elimination), and 4) Biology of Plasmodium vivax.

Assignment:
• You provide the epidemiological support for the research projects within the unit’s portfolio
• You will develop new projects within the unit’s research objectives
• You support the ITM teaching modules in epidemiology.
• You coach master and doctoral students in the unit
