The main objective of this position will be to functionally characterise and immunolocalise effector proteins from the oomycete Saprolegnia parasitica. The ideal candidate would be a molecular microscopist with a good record of publications and experience in microscopy, preferably electron microscopy and confocal microscopy and immunolocalisation studies.
Description:
We are seeking a postdoctoral Research Fellow to work in a large research consortium called SAPRO (Sustainable Approaches to Reduce Oomycete (Saprolegnia) Infections in Aquaculture), a European research training network. This consortium is led by Dr Pieter van West in the internationally renowned Aberdeen Oomycete Laboratory at the University of Aberdeen, UK. The researcher will work as a molecular microscopist to investigate localisation of effector proteins from Saprolegnia parasitica.
Marie Curie Research Training Networks aim to provide training and research experiences for researchers at the beginning of their careers by creating an opportunity to spend up to three years in another country as part of an international, high-quality research network. As such please note that it is a stipulation of the funding body that applicants have NOT lived/worked/studied in the UK for more than 12 months in the past three years.
