Description:

The Institute for Computational Medicine invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position.
The mission of the Institute is to develop quantitative approaches for understanding the mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment of human disease through application of mathematics, engineering and computer science. The Institute builds on internationally recognized research programs based in the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering, School of Medicine, and School of Public Health.
The scope of research in the Institute is broad. Using data collected by experimental collaborators or from their own experiments, Institute researchers develop computational models of biomolecules, molecular pathways, cells, tissue and organs, and use these models to understand the fundamental mechanisms and treatment of disease.
Current application areas include cardiovascular disease, angiogenesis, cancer, cystic fibrosis, motor disorders and other brain and psychiatric diseases. Institute researchers are also developing mathematical and computational methods for analyzing anatomic structure and function, and its variation in health and disease.
Current application areas include neuropsychiatric and heart diseases. A cross-cutting theme in each of these areas is the development of statistical learning methods that more effectively use high-dimensional multi-scale data to diagnose, and predict risk and outcomes in a range of diseases.
New faculty will be appointed in an appropriate department of the Whiting School of Engineering.
Successful applicants will be expected to establish independently funded research programs and participate in undergraduate and post-graduate education and research training.
