Applications are invited for a 2-year Experienced Researcher (ER) to work in the Laboratory for Experimental Astrophysics at INAF - Osservatorio Astrofisico di Catania, Italy, under the supervision of Dr. Maria Elisabetta Palumbo.
Description:
This post forms part of a large Initial Training Network (ITN), LASSIE, in the field of SOLID STATE ASTROCHEMISTRY established with the goal of addressing issues of relevance to the chemical evolution of the Universe and funded under the Marie Curie Actions within the 7th Framework Program. This four-year network started 2010 February 1st and links 13 academic experimental and theoretical groups with 5 industrial and 1 outreach partners.
The successful candidate is expected to work on a combined experimental and observational project aimed at understanding the role of energetic processing (i.e. ion and UV irradiation) in the formation of molecules observed in both solid and gas phase towards interstellar clouds or circumstellar envelopes. The candidate will also be expected to work with colleagues and their research students and assistants in a number of other institutions across Europe that comprise the LASSIE ITN in a coordinating role.
The successful candidate will receive a salary in line with the provisions of Marie Curie ITN action. Standard social benefits such as maternity/paternal leave are included.
