Description:

Applications are invited for a fully-funded full-time studentship in the area of ecocriticism. The study will aim to uncover fresh ecocritical perspectives by researching hitherto neglected areas of study. Accordingly, applications are invited in one of following three ecocritical areas:

  • Victorian literary culture
  • Humanism or post-Humanism
  • Ecopoetry/Ecopoetics

Applicants are encouraged to interpret these headings flexibly, however, and you may well be able to work around the period, genre or writer(s) of your choice. Our expectation is, primarily, that the direction of the project be determined by the skills, knowledge and interests of the applicant themselves.
The student will carry out a research project that will, on successful completion, lead to the award of a higher research degree (PhD). The student will be expected to carry out their individual research study under the direction of, Director of Studies, etc
