Abstract:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to study the hepatitis B virus HBx protein and its interaction with proteins of the host cell

Description:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to study the hepatitis B virus HBx protein and its interaction with proteins of the host cell. HBx is a regulatory protein that is essential for hepatitis B virus infection and that has been implicated in the development of liver cancer associated with chronic infection, but its mode of action remains unknown. We use a multidisciplinary approach to i) explore the molecular pathways by which HBx performs its activities in cell culture and ii) examine the relevance of these in vitro studies for HBx function during infection and associated liver diseases.
