Description:
Work package: Molecular aspects of receptors and mediators - To conduct an inventory of the distribution of the most relevant receptors along the human and porcine GI tract. - To determine the cellular localization (entero-endocrine cells, enterocytes, vagal neurons) of relevant receptors and the most relevant N-acylamines in the human and porcine GI tract. - To study the effect of specific nutrients on the in vitro formation and release of known and putative satiety mediators - To further explore the mechanism behind the observed synergy between (intact) protein and carbohydrates/artificial sweeteners in inducing a satiation and appetite response. Role description The PhD student is responsible for developing, planning and performing the analytical and in vitro studies supporting the pig and human studies performed in Lelystad and Maastricht. You will work in a team of scientists at 4 different locations with 2 additional PhD students, one of which (Maastricht) will provide the human material.
