Postdoc: Solid State Pharmaceutical Cluster

Requirements:
Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics but consideration will also be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science. Candidates should ideally have a degree in Pharmacy. Previous postdoctoral experience in an academic or relevant industrial setting would be advantageous.
Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable)
• Experience in preformulation and formulation of solid dosage forms is essential.
• He/she should be skilled in a number of the following processing and characterisation techniques:, Milling, blending, tableting, spray drying, thermal analysis, XRD, FTIR, particle sizing, BET analysis, SEM, DVS, iGC etc.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills is essential.
• Excellent organisational skills and time management skills. The ability to deliver to specific deadlines is essential.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to think independently and develop research ideas.
Abstract:
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to the Solid State Pharmaceutical Cluster (SSPC), funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI).
Description:
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a programme of work in the API/Formulation Interface strand of the SSPC. The objective of this strand of the SSPC is to inform API manufacturers of the ideal API properties for formulation purposes and to examine how secondary processing affects API performance in the drug product. The research will investigate the effect of API solid state characteristics on solid dosage form production and performance.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be based in TCD but will also be expected to undertake part of the research in the School of Pharmacy, University College Cork. Some time may also be spent in industry.
The post holder will be required to adhere to the specific policy of the project concerning the management and exploitation of intellectual property.
