Requirements:
The successful candidate for this position should have a background in molecular biology and/or biochemistry, preferably with experience the field of RNA interference, siRNA delivery and the immune system. Experience with in vivo delivery of bioactive small molecules, proteins/peptides, plasmids or siRNA is preferred. The position runs for 2 years from 1 April 2011 to 31 April 2013.
All applicants are expected to collaborate closely with medical doctors, molecular biologists, chemists, physicists and nanoscientists. Furthermore, the position will involve supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
Abstract:
The centre will carry out research focused on the role of inflammation and de/regenerative imbalances in the development of cardiovascular- and musculoskeletal diseases. The goal of the centre is to develop novel clinically relevant nano-based technologies within drug design, drug delivery, bioimaging and tissue engineering, to support individualized prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases.
Description:
The main object of the post doc position is to establish techniques to target genes involved in inflammation of human tissue using siRNA, microRNA and antisense technology. A focus will be to harnish the drug to function optimally in vivo by cell targeting and with a minimum of off-target effects. The project will be performed in an interdisciplinary environment in close collaboration with molecular biologists and medical doctors at Faculty of Health and The Faculty of Natural Sciences.
