Abstract:

Collaboration with a preclinical research team to the characterization in cell cultures and in animal models of the influence of stimulation of cholinergic system on neuronal and astroglial markers and on morphology of brain areas involved in learning and memory

Description:

Development of neuronal and astroglial cultures and evaluation on this model of the influence of cholinergic precursors and cholinergic receptor agonists/antagonists. Assessment in animal models of vascular brain injury (spontaneously hypertensive rats) and in mice overexpressing amyloid precursor protein (APP), presenilins, or tau of the influence of cholinergic precursors, cholinergic receptor agonists/antagonists, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors alone or in association on cholinergic neurotransmission markers and on the functional brain morphology. Analysis will be focused primarily in brain areas involved in learning and memory.
 
The position has a term of two years and may be renewed. The gross salary is approx. €16,000 per annum
