Postdoc: Effects of climate change on farm animal physiology

Requirements:
A prerequisite for this position is a PhD degree in the subject area. The
PhD should have been awarded no longer than three years before final application date,
unless there are mitigating circumstances. The successful candidate will have to be able to
quickly establish contacts with colleagues in Sweden and neighbouring countries. We
believe that many of the studies can be performed in vitro. For this reason knowledge of
various in vitro techniques is a merit as well as an educational background that include
physiology, microbiology and toxicology. The ability to speak and write English well is a
prerequisite.

Description:
The department of anatomy, physiology and biochemistry consists of around 60 employees.
The section of Anatomy and physiology conducts research within the areas of biomechanics
and rehabilitation, cardiovascular function, fluid balance and temperature regulation,
behavior physiology of animal welfare, structure and function of reproductive organs,
energy homeostasis and endocrine control of metabolism. The section of Biocemistry
conduct research within three main areas: DNA precursor metabolism, molecular
mechanism of inflammation and medical protein biochemistry. Teaching on bachelor and
master levels in anatomy, histology, physiology and biochemistry is pursued mainly within
SLU’s veterinary and animal science programs. The department also comprises the Unit for
equine studies.
Duties: We are now looking for a post doc with drive and ability to establish research in
this new and interesting research area. Teaching may be included in the duties up to 20%
of the time.
