Requirements:
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in political economy and/or human development, and have a proven track record of high-quality research and publication at an internationally excellent standard, along with evidence of imaginative research plans and the potential to lead and manage new research initiatives. He or she should be able to demonstrate expertise in political economy and human development of India. Expertise in research methods and the environment of India are highly desirable. Evidence of inter-disciplinary skills, the ability to teach at graduate level, and the skills and commitment to become a fully participating member of the School are also essential.

Research on contemporary India is thriving within Oxford University and this is just one of many academic posts across the social sciences at Oxford engaged in this field. The School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies seeks applications for a full-time University Lecturership in the Political Economy and Human Development of India. The Lecturership is tenable from 1 September 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter and will be held in conjunction with a Fellowship at Wolfson College.
The main duties of the postholder will be to engage in research and produce publications of an international standard, to provide University teaching for the School at graduate level, and to offer graduate supervision. Other key duties include co-operating in the administrative work of the School.
