Requirements:

The successful applicant must have a good first degree in Politics and/or Law, and a strong interest in and understanding of the British parliament. They will ideally also have either experience of parliamentary or legal research or a postgraduate qualification. A close attention to detail and absolute fluency with the English language are essential. Experience with databases, statistical analysis and/or content analysis are also desirable.

Abstract:

The Constitution Unit is the main research centre in the School of Public Policy at University College London, focusing on constitutional reform and comparative constitutional study.

Description:

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6. The salary will be £27,796 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Constitution Unit is the main research centre in the School of Public Policy at University College London, focusing on constitutional reform and comparative constitutional study. The Unit works closely with policymakers, as well as publishing high-quality academic research. It currently has six senior researchers, three research assistants and various research interns. 
We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work on a major new project led by Dr Meg Russell on The Impact of the British Parliament on Legislation.
This is a 2-year project funded by the Nuffield Foundation and runs until 31 January 2013. The full-time Research Assistant will be appointed for 12 months, and primarily be responsible for collecting and analysing data on legislative amendments in the House of Commons and House of Lords.
