POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW (M/F) for the High Brilliance and X-Ray Spectroscopy Beamline

Organization: ESRF

Location: Grenoble, France

Field: Chemistry - Physics

Requirements:

You must hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Geology or a related field. Very good skills in instrumentation (e.g. X-ray instrumentation, in-situ cells, spectroscopy instrumentation, …) and previous research related to electronic structure analysis are essential.

Abstract:

You will participate in ongoing in-house research programs, the running of the Beamline, providing support to external users as local contact, and develop your own research programme.

Description:

You will participate in ongoing in-house research programs, the running of the Beamline, providing support to external users as local contact, and develop your own research programme.
ID26 is dedicated to X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy. We study the electronic structure and local coordination in systems that are relevant in the applied sciences (materials science, coordination chemistry, (bio)catalysis, mineralogy and geology,…). The beamline hosts unique instrumentation for advanced X-ray spectroscopies and thus provides state-of-the-art research possibilities. We also collaborate with many theoretical groups that develop codes for electronic structure calculations for X-ray spectroscopies. (For further information about the instrument please consult http://www.esrf.fr/UsersAndScience/Experiments/DynExtrCond/ID26/). You will be encouraged and supported to develop your own research, which should exploit the exceptional beamline capabilities. You will initiate and participate in collaborative research programs with universities and research centers.
