Description:

The Centre for Virus Research (CVR) (http://www.cvr.ac.uk/) is a unique international research centre with a critical mass of researchers dedicated to the multidisciplinary study of human and animal viruses. The CVR represents a partnership between the Medical Research Council and the University of Glasgow. It has allowed the integration of research groups involved in virology research from the University of Glasgow and the MRC Unit for Virology under a single management umbrella. The CVR will be located in a new research building in the Garscube campus of the University of Glasgow. The CVR is a core component of the newly established Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation within the College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow.
To help us achieve our mission and enhance the activities of the Centre for Virus Research we now wish to recruit a Clinical Senior Lecturer.
The appointee will lead a new Research Group in the area of chronic viral hepatitis. You will be based at the Centre for Virus Research within the Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation in the College of Medicine, Veterinary and Life sciences at the University of Glasgow with an Honorary Contract of Consultant Physician based at the Western Infirmary and Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow. The appointee will be expected to develop close collaborative links with other research groups at the University and within the Glasgow HCV Network and HCV Research UK.
The Glasgow HCV Network brings together excellent laboratory research on HCV and a major clinical action plan within the West of Scotland, with added value from the input of an excellent group of epidemiologists and mathematical modellers. The CVR has also played a leading role in establishing HCV Research UK, a consortium that brings together major treatment centres for HCV across the UK to create a national cohort of patients that provides information and specimens for clinical and basic research. Together, the Glasgow HCV Network and the HCV Research UK consortium will offer the appointee unique opportunities for multidisciplinary studies.
