Description:

IGES seeks a highly motivated and talented individual to its SCP team. Tasks for the future employee will mostly be under the research component on policies for sustainable consumption. This component focuses on emerging consumption patterns and lifestyles in Asia and explores how these can be reconciled with ecological constraints while meeting the needs of the poor. It aims to promote a wider recognition of the need for changing consumption patterns and lifestyles, and to identify effective approaches to that end.
A new project under this component aims to identify barriers to energy efficient housing in Asian cities and to make policy recommendations on how these barriers can be removed, as well as what sort of incentives can be provided to stakeholders at each stage. The project takes a life-cycle approach and looks at the design, construction and use phases.
