Requirements:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. with a strong background in cellular and molecular biology. Experience in neuroscience or angiogenesis is preferred but not required. Competitive candidates will have a demonstrated expertise in biomedical research, a proven track record in terms of publications, and a commitment to a career in biomedical research. The ideal candidate would have direct experience in high-throughput analysis of biological data (such as microarrays), experience with statistic analytic tools (such as Ingenuity and MatLab), familiarity with major biological databases (such as NCBI, ENSEML) and a strong background in molecular biology.

Knowledge in mouse handling and surgery is highly desirable. Strong motivation and sense of teamwork are essential, along with excellent interpersonal skills for effective interactions with a dynamic group of researchers. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a track record of independent productive research, show willingness to help guide junior lab members, have strong organizational, written, and verbal skills, and possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a laboratory team.

Abstract:

This position involves utilizing cellular and molecular biology approaches to analyze neuro-vascular interactions in development and disease. We hope to identify interventions for pathologic retinal angiogenesis related to retinopathy of prematurity, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration in mouse models.
