The Department of informatics has a vacancy for a research fellow in the field of algorithms for the period of 4 years within the project “Rigorous Theory of Preprocessing” financed by European Research Council (ERC) via the Advanced Investigator Grant scheme with 75 % and the university with 25 %.
Description:
The Department of informatics has a vacancy for a research fellow in the field of algorithms for the period of 4 years within the project “Rigorous Theory of Preprocessing” financed by European Research Council (ERC) via the Advanced Investigator Grant scheme with 75 % and the university with 25 %.
The successful candidate will work with Professor Fedor Fomin on the project “Rigorous Theory of Preprocessing”. The goal of the project is the study of heuristic algorithms, mainly in the realm of parameterized complexity. The research areas are algorithms and complexity, in particular, fixed parameter tractability, parameterized complexity and kernelization.

The research fellow must take part in the University's approved PhD programme leading to the degree within a time limit of 3 years. Application for admission to the PhD programme, including a project plan outline for the training module, will be worked out in collaboration with a supervisor.
In total, the fellowship period is 4 years. For positions with a 4-year duration 25 pct of the period will be designated to teaching and/or administrative duties.
The fellowship period may be reduced if the successful applicant has held previous employment as research fellow.
The teaching language will normally be Norwegian.
Starting salary on grade 48 (code 1017/pay framework 20.8) in the Civil Service pay grade table scale; currently NOK 383,900 gross p.a.; following ordinary meriting regulations.
