Organization: Kaunas University of Technology
Location: Kaunas, Lithuania
Field: Organic chemistry
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have a MSc degree (or equivalent, which formally entitles embarking on a doctorate) in Chemistry with a potential background in Organic Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry. The experience in the synthesis and characterization of liquid crystals and/or dendrimers is desirable but not a requirement. Carrier in research should not exceed 4 years.
Researcher can be national of any country other than Lithuania. Researcher must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Lithuania for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment.
Applicant should send by e-mail a cover letter, a CV, a short summary of his/her research experience (if this is the case) and reference letter(s) from academic or industrial scientist.
Abstract:
Applications are invited for early-stage researcher position at Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania). The position involves research work in the FP7-PEOPLE-2007-1-1-ITN project "Dendreamers — Functional Liquid Crystalline Dendrimers: Synthesis of New Materials, Resource for New Applications", undertaken by 7 leading scientific groups in Europe and 2 private company partners. The project is funded by the European Community within the 7th Framework Programme
Description:
The applicant will work for 6 months under the supervision of Prof. J. V. Grazulevicius on the synthesis of liquid crystalline dendrimers with electroactive functional groups and investigation of their optical, thermal, photophysical and charge-transporting properties. The potential fields of the application of the synthesized materials are optoelectrinic and electronic devices such as organic light-emitting diodes, photovoltaic cells, electrophotographic receptors, organic thin film transistors, electrochromic devices. The low-molar-mass model compounds containing the corresponding electroactive groups will also be synthesized, characterized and studied.
