Abstract:
Project: Complete Ambient Assisted Living Experiment - Market Validation
Description:
Work Area: Monitoring distributed, adaptable in large scale in the area of AAAmbient Assisted Living (AAL), with special application to the elderly people
Project overview: Population aging is an unavoidable reality in Europe and especially in Portugal and it is expected that a significant reduction in the population. The use of electronic methods of monitoring aid for the elderly in their home is presented as a possible solution to significantly reduce support costs. This kind of critical systems has particularly demanding requirements, particularly in terms of scalability, reliability and security.
This study intends to continue the development of an infrastructure for monitoring distributed and largely inspired by the pattern of Observation Pattern (M. Fowler, Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture, Addison-Wesley Professional, 2002), which will be used in projects AAL eCaalyx , CIP-PSP-MV CAALYX ALL4ALL and NSRF. This infrastructure should cover multiple systems (embedded systems, mobile platforms, dedicated servers, cloud, etc..) functioning as a layer of orchestration and activity monitoring (eg home automation) in the whole environment of the elderly at home and abroad.
Objectives: The work can be developed in two lines:
• Defining the architecture of infrastructure monitoring AAL, with a focus on adaptability and evolution, contributing to the definition of new software standards;
• Contribute to the introduction and dissemination of good practices in software development in USIG, especially in applying Agile development of ubiquitous systems by multidisciplinary teams (hardware / software) and geographically distributed.
For each of these areas, but especially for first must arise publications in international journals indexed.
1495,00€. The grant holder can receive additional payments by participating in complementary contracts or projects that contribute to the work plan (Clauses 12 and 13 of INESC Porto Grants Regulation and Annex II) in accordance with paragraph 4 of article 5 of Research Grant Holder Statute, approved by Law nº 40/2004, dated 18 August
